I'm sure your questions have already been answered, but... anyone who is non-human gain whatever is missing to make them so, or is changed into a human for this place. It... happened to me, too.

well "what are the odds that i will become my original species again?" comes to mind.

It's very rare, I think, but there was a time not too long ago that those of us who were non-human before this place reverted to being non-human. But I think that happens only a couple of times a year.

[Well that's good to know. Maybe once he gets to Cherrygrove he should make sure to have a week's worth of dry food in the event he wakes up as a platypus again and has to stick to the routes.]
